Where I’ve Been
Meat and Blah, Blah, Blah
For being a young chick of 30, I have never really “dieted.” No fad diets for me! Sure, I’ve had my ups and downs of being conscious of what I’m eating, but nothing has ever “stuck.” I guess the only thing that did “stick” was my very typical Western diet. Bring on the meat! (But mostly chicken, not a huge red-meat fan, although some say chicken is worse than red meat… no matter it’s all gone away now!) I’ve done the gym membership, the personal trainer, blah blah blah, and it was great, but then I let life happen and it was so far down on my priority list that I lost sight of working out.
Where I Am
Miracle 3-Month Micro-Premie and Triathlon
Two years ago I was put on bed-rest for 9 weeks because of extreme bleeding during my pregnancy. Since I couldn’t walk around or do any kind of physical activity for 9 LONG weeks all muscle tone that I did have was completely shot. Even with all that bed-rest, my son was born 3 months early (26 weeks). After spending 2 1/2 months in the NICU, we still faced challenges of having a micro-premie. Earlier this summer, with my son’s health doing wonderfully, I decided to do something for me! In the summer of 2011 I trained for and participated in a sprint triathlon with other women from my church. All of me and my jiggly bits rocked all three events! That was the very thing I needed to prove to myself that I can take my health and body back into my own hands. And now is THAT time!
Where I’m Going
Iron Man By 40!
I have definitely caught the triathlon bug! If I did my first triathlon before I turned 30, then I can totally do an Iron Man before I turn 40! I want to be healthy—mind, body, and spirit. Each of those areas feel like they are lacking right now. I want my home to be a healthy and happy place to be!
I’ll be monitoring my progress by my energy levels and overall feeling, as well as physical changes in my body. Baseline measurements on 11/11/11:
- Total inches of different areas of this body of mine: 236 inches (YIKES!)
- Pant size: 16 (blah!)
- Weight (OH BOY! Cannot believe I’m actually putting this here for all the world to see!): 231.4 lbs (a big thank you to my son for a lot of this baby weight still!)
- Height: 5’7″
